Cincinnati, OH – Congressman Greg Landsman (D-OH-01) along with Congressman Troy Carter, Sr. (D-LA-02) sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Commerce urging the quick release of funding for the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment Program.

Congressman Landsman and Congressman Carter – joined by 10 other members of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communications and Technology – sent a letter to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, urging the immediate release of stalled Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program funds.

These dollars are critical for states ready to get to work, ensuring millions of unserved and underserved Americans can finally get connected.

Congressman Greg Landsman:

“Billions of dollars are ready to be invested in long-term broadband solutions to connect Americans in every part of this country. States are ready to work, but they need Commerce to act on these funds. Reliable broadband is so important for our communities, our competitiveness and to finally close the digital divide.”

Congressman Troy Carter, Sr.:

“I’ve been a strong supporter of the BEAD program from day one. Louisiana became the first state to receive funds for BEAD from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in January, with wide support from across the aisle. Now, under a Republican Administration, the funding has suddenly stalled. In today’s world, access to the internet is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. I urge the Commerce Department to act NOW to make these funds available to our state. We’re ready to put shovels in the ground.”
