Cincinnati, OH – Today, Congressman Greg Landsman (OH-01) released the following statement on the path forward for the U.S. House of Representatives following the motion to vacate the Office of the Speaker.

“The way out of this is to marginalize extremists like Matt Gaetz,” said Congressman Landsman.

“Right now, one person can initiate the process to remove the Speaker, forcing the Speaker to cater to the extremes. And while we offered the Speaker an opportunity to work with us on a path forward, he chose not to.

“But there is room for hope. This is a unique moment — we should push for institutional reforms that put the extremists on the sidelines and allow us to govern in a bipartisan way. That’s what’s best for the country.”
