HHS Deputy Secretary Joins Landsman in Southwest Ohio, Highlights Work to Reduce Prescription Drug Prices
Cincinnati, OH – Congressman Greg Landsman welcomed the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Deputy Secretary Andrea Palm to Southwest Ohio to highlight work to reduce prescription drug prices on the second anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act.
Congressman Landsman and Deputy Secretary Palm hosted a town hall at Ohio Living Llanfair, a senior living facility in College Hill, to discuss efforts to lower prescription drug prices and capping out-of-pocket costs for seniors. Landsman and Palm later met with local leaders and community stakeholders in a roundtable meeting to discuss their work in supporting families and how the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services can assist.
As the Inflation Reduction Act marked its second anniversary, the Administration announced that Medicare secured agreements to lower the costs of 10 prescription drugs selected for the first round of price negotiations. These are among the most expensive and commonly prescribed drugs in the Medicare program. This win saves Medicare and seniors billions of dollars on medication for blood clots, diabetes, heart failure, kidney disease, arthritis, psoriasis, blood cancers, and Crohn’s disease.
