Landsman Accepts Friendly Wager with Kansas City-Area Representatives on Bengals-Chiefs Game

Cincinnati, OH – Today, Congressman Greg Landsman (OH-01) accepted the terms of a friendly wager offered by Kansas City-area Congressman Emanuel Cleaver (MO-05) and Congresswoman Sharice Davids (KS-03) on the result of Sunday’s AFC Championship Game.

If the Cincinnati Bengals beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday and are named AFC Champions for the second year in a row, Congressman Landsman has agreed to provide his Congressional colleagues from the Kansas City-area with Skyline Chili and Bengals jerseys to wear in the U.S. Capitol. If the Kansas City Chiefs – led by Patrick Mahomes and his high ankle sprain – find a way to beat the Cincinnati Bengals, the terms of their side of the agreement call for Congressman Landsman’s colleagues to provide him Kansas City’s finest barbecue and a Chiefs jersey.

“I’m feeling very good about Joey B and our Cincinnati Bengals as they take on the Chiefs for what we hope is a fourth straight win,” said Congressman Landsman. “I’m feeling so good, in fact, that I’m looking forward to my Kansas City colleagues – Representatives Emanuel Cleaver and Sharice Davids – donning the orange and black around the halls of the U.S. Capitol while they some Skyline Chili next week. Who Dey!”

“As a cosponsor of the Big Cat Public Safety Act that passed into law last Congress, I believe fervently in protecting all kinds of majestic Big Cats—but this weekend I’m making an exception for the Bengals,” said Congressman Cleaver. “Even with a sprained ankle, I’m so confident Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will win against Joe Burrow and the Bengals that I’m willing to bet some of Kansas City’s world-class barbecue on the matchup. When the Chiefs inevitably march on to the Super Bowl, I look forward to enjoying the victory with some of Cincinnati’s famous Skyline chili.”

“Kansas City has the best team, the best fans, and the best BBQ—something Rep. Landsman is about to learn,” said Congresswoman Davids. “I appreciate his confidence, but it takes more than confidence to win a Super Bowl. We would know!”
