Cincinnati, OH – Today, Congressman Greg Landsman (OH-01) and Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) introduced a resolution condemning calls from members of Congress to expel Palestinians from the United States.

Congressman Landsman and Congressman Goldman have introduced a resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives condemning calls from members of Congress for the expulsion of Palestinians from the United States. Congressman Landsman and Congressman Goldman’s resolution follows the introduction of H.R.6211 – legislation that has been promoted as an effort to “Expel Palestinians from the United States.”

“They’re trying to expel an entire community of people from the United States,” said Congressman Landsman. “It’s un-American. It’s not who we are. And it’s going to get people hurt. We need these folks to pull back on this dangerous rhetoric and to stop adding fuel to this fire. It’s not helping the Israelis, it’s certainly not helping the Palestinians, it’s absolutely undercutting our role in pursuing peace and stability in the region and here at home.”

“Calls to expel Palestinians from the United States are racist, xenophobic and have no place in the government of the United States,” said Congressman Goldman. “We cannot stand for rhetoric that fans the flames of hate in this nation. The anti-American proposal to expel an entire people from this country must be condemned.”

Congressman Landsman and Congressman Goldman’s resolution reads, in part:

“Whereas this rhetoric calls for the removal of an entire people from our nation . . . [U]nfairly and dangerously conflates Palestinians with Hamas and its actions  . . . [I]mplies immigrants are a danger to America – ignoring our nation’s long history of welcoming people of all faiths and backgrounds . . . [I]s un-American, bigoted, and is designed to inflame tensions which could result in violence: Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That the House of Representatives – Condemns calls from Members of Congress for the expulsion of Palestinians from the United States.”
