Cincinnati, OH – Today, Congressman Greg Landsman (OH-01) announced legislation to lower the cost of electric vehicles for American families.

Congressman Landsman has introduced H.R.10046 – the 21st Century Vehicle Affordability Act – legislation that would help bring down the cost of electric vehicles(EV) and EV charging stations for families, ensure oversight of America’s usage of critical minerals as it relates to the EV industry, and provide data on the location of EV charging infrastructure across the country.

The 21st Century Vehicle Affordability Act would:

  • Double the New Clean Vehicle Tax Credit for the purchase of new EVs from $7,500 to $15,000
  • Double the Used Clean Vehicle Credit for the purchase of used EVs from $4,000 to up to $8,000
  • Increase the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit from 30 percent to 50 percent – allowing for more of the purchase price of EV charging stations to be claimed as a tax deduction
  • Require federal agencies to report on the acquisition and supply-chain security of critical minerals necessary to the EV industry
  • Require federal agencies to report on the availability and usage rates of electric vehicle charging stations on critical roadways throughout the country

Congressman Landsman:

“Our bill would lower the cost of electric vehicles for American families. This bill expands choice, lowers the cost of new and used cars, creates jobs, and will be a big win in our fight to end the climate crisis.”
