Landsman on Supporting Iran War Powers Resolution

Cincinnati, OH – Today, Congressman Greg Landsman (D-OH-01) released the following statement after voting to support a War Powers Resolution to stop President Trump from pursuing further military actions in Iran:

It’s time to be done in Iran, and I hope my vote in favor of the War Powers Resolution sends that message. 

I only supported targeted strikes to destroy Iran’s weapons shield around their nuclear enrichment facilities. In just a few weeks, our military achieved these objectives – giving us options and reducing the possibility of a catastrophic, nuclear event. 

While our military has succeeded in achieving these objectives, Trump has failed. 

Trump failed to effectively communicate the scope and importance of the operation. Trump failed to build the necessary coalitions, here or abroad, and Trump failed to end the operation when the goals were achieved. 

Trump should come to Congress and get the help he clearly needs.
