Landsman Statement on Republicans’ Reckless Budget Bill

Cincinnati, OH – Today, Congressman Greg Landsman (D-OH-01) released the following statement regarding the budget bill House Republicans are proposing:

The Republicans’ budget bill is so bad that even their own members will vote against it, and the Speaker is now asking for prayers. They control Congress – and decide whether the government shuts down – yet they’re pushing arguably one of the worst budget bills ever.

The focus of their bill is on the uber-wealthy. They plan to waste trillions on tax giveaways to Elon Musk and other billionaire donors. To pay for it, they are willing to purge millions from healthcare by making huge cuts to Medicaid and adding trillions in deficit spending.

In Southwest Ohio, there are 160,0000 people on Medicaid and more than 40% are children. Cutting their healthcare will hurt everyone.

Public opinion and pressure needs to shift.

100% of tax relief should go to people who need it: working people, the middle class, small businesses and farmers.
