Cincinnati, OH – Today, Congressman Greg Landsman (OH-01) released the following statement in response to the Speaker’s decision to take the emergency supplemental request for Israel, humanitarian assistance in Gaza, Ukraine, and border security – a measure that will be taken up by the Senate in a bipartisan way – and instead put forward a bill that pits funding for Israel against public sector workers and going after tax cheats:

This moment obviously requires serious leadership, and the new Speaker chose to play politics right out of the gate with this emergency funding bill.

It’s absolute nonsense to play politics with emergency assistance of any kind. Doing it with Israel right now is particularly unnerving and scary.

For those of us who believe in bipartisan, we’ll still work with him as long as he’s Speaker. But this is a bad start, and very frustrating.
